Project Overview
The Exshaw plant near Canmore underwent an expansion to install a new preheater precalciner kin, raw mill and a finish mill. As part of the primary power supply to the expansion, modifications to the existing main substation, a new 138kV transmission line and a new substation were required.
In the existing substation, a new line termination tower, CB, CT and disconnects were installed while only requiring an outage for the tie-in. A new 1km transmission line from the existing Exshaw substation to the new substation.
The new substation work included the installation of support steel, bus work, electrical equipment including the assembly and oiling of a new transformer.Work also included the termination of the underground secondary cables.
