Project Overview
BC Hydro entered into a Project Agreement with ln Power BC General Partnership for the design, construction, partial financing, maintenance and rehabilitation of the John Hart Generating Station Replacement Project located in Campbell River. SNC-Lavalin Inc. will look after the design and construction of the project and FMI will perform the General Electrical scope of work. FMI replaced 3 existing 15KV/138KV oil-filled generator transformers T1, T3 and T5 and removed all existing 15 kV cables, bus and equipment. Work was performed in the existing John Hart Substation.
Work for the project included:
- installation of 3 x 50 MVA transformers, 15KV switchgear, and substation support steel brackets and 15KV cable bus
- supply & installation of Powerhouse Cable Tray, Process Piping, and HVAC Duct Galvanized Steel Support Structures
- supply and installation of 141 cable bus steel structures (23,305KG) to support the 13.8 kV cable bus. The cable bus totalled 200 m in length.
During the project, FMI pulled over 3,000 cables which totalled over 150 km in length.
