Project Overview

The Ruskin Dam and Powerhouse is located in the District of Mission on the Stave River, north of Lougheed Highway at 287th Street, about 60 kilometres east of Vancouver. FMI rebuilt 3 existing Generators 1, 2 & 3.  Work for the project included all Temporary Construction Power including Construction Trailers, Storage Containers, Temporary Shop and Construction Power Panels.

The scope included the demolition of the existing Generator Electrical Equipment & Wiring for the Turbine, Generator, Exciter, Neutral Grounding and Water Cooling Systems. FMI installed the Voith supplied Instruments including; Turbine Bearing RTDs, Thrust Bearing RTDs, Generator Guide bearing RTDs, Stator winding RTDs, Shaft Vibration, Shear Pin, Braking system, Wicket Gate limits, various automated valves,  all Control Cabinets including Rigid Galvanized Conduit, Supports, and Wiring.

FMI installed neutral & split phase CT wiring; rotor slip ring & exciter lead wiring; and assisted Voith with the Rotor Shrink and Core Loop Test Procedure’s.
